Cookwise (“we”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you use the Cookwise mobile application (“the App”).

Cookwise is operated by Anthony Scheuner, an independent developer based in Switzerland.

2. Data Collected

2.1 Account data

When you create your account, we collect:

  • Email address
  • First and last name
  • Language preference
  • Dietary preferences and allergies

2.2 Usage data

To provide our services, we store:

  • Food inventory items (names, quantities, expiry dates)
  • Generated recipes and meal plans
  • Shopping list items
  • Gamification data (points, badges, eco-score)
  • Weekly usage history for impact reports

2.3 Analytics data

We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage statistics such as screen views, feature usage frequency, and crash reports. This data is aggregated and cannot be used for personal identification.

3. Use of Your Data

We use your data exclusively to:

  • Provide and improve the App’s features
  • Generate personalized AI recipes based on your inventory and preferences
  • Send expiry notifications
  • Calculate your ecological impact and gamification progress
  • Provide customer support

We never sell, share, or trade your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following trusted third-party services:

  • Supabase — Secure cloud database and authentication (data hosted in the EU)
  • OpenAI — AI recipe generation (only your ingredient list and preferences are sent, never your personal identity)
  • RevenueCat — Subscription management
  • Firebase Analytics — Anonymous usage statistics
  • Apple App Store — Payment processing for subscriptions

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Supabase’s encrypted servers in the European Union. We implement industry-standard security measures, including encrypted connections (TLS), row-level security policies, and secure authentication.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the App’s settings. Upon account deletion, all your data is permanently removed from our servers within 30 days.

7. Your Rights

Under applicable data protection laws (including the Swiss DPA and GDPR), you have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your data
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw your consent at any time

8. Children’s Privacy

Cookwise is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

9. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or by email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
